A Magazine Advertisement For Sawdust Art Festival

Essentially, my idea stemmed from the tiny palm leaves that hung from Sawdust’s original logo. California and palm trees seem to go hand in hand which essentially inspired my idea for the graphic in my background. I created a gradient that highlighted the colors of the mountains by using the eyedropper tool. I then used a gradient feather to blend the graphic into the background. For the logo, I choose a simple font of Arial bold. I then took Sawdust’s website logo and used the pen tool to trace the palm logo that hangs from their title. I also used the pen tool to trace the tiny blobs that they have on all of the headers of their web page. I grouped these to objects with a line and then placed them at the top of the page to create a backdrop for my own logo. As for the text content, I chose to use Minion Pro semi-bold as my font, and I placed it into two columns based on the information presented. At the very bottom of my advertisement, I placed the important information (i.e. date and web address) in a box so that the reader could find it easily. Finally, I added a dark green border to make the entire ad pop. I hope you and Sawdust enjoy it! Sawdust Ad
