Humane Society Calendar

For this project, I first used the master pages to create a layout that was repeated for each month. Thus, repetition is evident in my spread. However, I used contrast between each month with the colors. I did this so that they could make a visual distinction between each month. I chose colors that matched the month as well as the pictures for each month. The master pages also helped make sure that the alignment was correct for my grid, pictures, coupons and facts. In terms of proximity, I grouped the fun facts and coupons together on the right hand side as they were of least importance. They are also all similar in size. The majority of the page is taken up by the actual calendar. To create the actual calendar, I used an Excel spread sheet.

I believe this design is also visually appealing and readable. Each month has a slight difference in color and picture, which keeps it interesting. I stuck with black font so that it can easily be read as well. This also connects to the intended audience. The Humane Society is an organization focused on animals. Therefore, every picture for each month is of an animal. For my coupons I created paw prints using the circle tool. All of the “Fun Furry Friend Facts!” are animal related as well.

I believe this calendar is coherent, fun, readable, and creative. I think it also works for the intended audience. I hope it is a success for the annual fundraising drive!
